It’s Almost Time for Brighter Evenings: Daylight Saving Time Begins March 10

CHI Saint Joseph Health

It’s the time of year when we move our clocks ahead one hour. To keep CHI time and attendance systems running smoothly when the clocks “spring forward” at 2 a.m. Sunday, March 10, several things will happen automatically:

  • The Standard Time and Attendance System (Kronos) will automatically update the time correctly at 2 a.m. by moving one hour forward.
  • Time clocks and TTE Systems will also update automatically at 2 a.m.
  •  Shifts that span the time change will automatically be reduced by one hour, including scheduled on-call shifts that span the 2 a.m. time change and should not be changed.
  • Schedules for exempt employees that span the 2 a.m. time change will automatically be reduced by one hour. Because these employees are “paid from schedule,” managers may need to adjust hours for each FTE by adding one hour to their schedules.

Other than adjusting the schedules of exempt employees whose shifts span the time change, there will be no need for any manual intervention from managers, timekeepers or local IT personnel.
