It’s almost time for the employee engagement survey
Grocery stores, restaurants and even your dentist often ask you to take a survey about your experience. It’s almost time for a survey you’ll really want to take: the annual employee survey. Open online May 6-27
, the survey is your chance to let your voice be heard and help us make this an even better place to work. The employee survey is about listening to each other to help serve the common good.
Across CommonSpirit Health*
, all employees will be completing a similar survey. Some of the survey questions will ask about elements of the employee experience at CommonSpirit Health. While most experiences over the past year have been as a part of CHI, these questions are intended to help us focus on broader organizational improvements in the future. Leaders will use the survey feedback to align employee experience goals with our mission and business goals.

Your feedback in the Performance Culture Assessment (PCA) survey helps us decide how to improve our programs and processes. Survey results also influence how we can better support the Living Our Mission Measures, the nine ways we monitor and manage our overall performance.
Please watch for a May 6 email from Press Ganey, the survey administration firm.
The email will include a link to the PCA survey and login instructions. Your responses and comments will remain confidential.
If you were hired as an employee before Feb. 5, 2019, you will receive the survey invitation email. If you were hired after Feb. 5, or if you are a contractor or non-employee, you are not eligible to take the survey this year.
Many of the questions match previous years’ surveys to help us measure progress. New elements of this year’s survey include:
- The survey and some related communications will use the CommonSpirit Health brand as we bring together the CHI and Dignity Health employee experiences. The employee engagement survey is the first large-scale project to use the new branding. Please talk with your manager if you have questions about our transition to CommonSpirit Health.
- An additional 23 questions that also will be part of Dignity Health’s employee survey this spring. The common questions will help us understand what staff across CommonSpirit Health think about key topics. We will explore combining our surveys and processes in the next year or two.
- New questions about quality, safety, resilience and diversity. Based on prior survey feedback, we know these topics are important to you.
- Additional questions for registered nurses, physicians and providers. You’ll be directed to these items based on demographic questions at the beginning of the survey.
The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete. You’ll spend a little more time on it than in past years; the result will be comprehensive and robust information we will use all year long.
Individual survey responses and comments will be confidential. Thank you in advance for completing the employee survey and helping us be our best for our patients, our communities and each other.
