Women's Hospital Saint Joseph East
Avery Elizabeth Black was born into Heaven on July 27, 2017, at the Women’s Hospital at Saint Joseph East. After arriving at the hospital to be induced at 40 weeks and three days, Katie and Bryan were told their precious daughter had passed away. In the wake of such devastation they found a shining light in Debbie Gibbons, RN, and the hospital’s bereavement department, who helped make their loss as bearable as they could.
Katie and Bryan are passionate about keeping Avery’s memory alive and assisting other families who are experiencing the same unimaginable, devastating loss. In her memory, Katie and Bryan are donating funds to rename the fountain at the Women’s Hospital, the Avery Elizabeth Fountain of Remembrance, dedicated to all the babies who have left us too soon. The official unveiling took place on July 27, Avery’s second birthday.
The funds donated by the Black family will be utilized by the bereavement department to provide additional support and compassionate services for families experiencing infant loss. Katie and Bryan hope to make the donation an annual gift in memory of Avery.
