Called to Serve: Donate a Housewarming Gift for Habitat for Humanity

During our Called to Serve celebration this week, employees will receive a CHI Saint Joseph Health measuring tape by sharing who inspires them to serve and why AND donating a household item for Habitat for Humanity. Donations will go to the hospital’s local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.

This is timely as CHI Saint Joseph Health, along with LEX18, just wrapped up a Lexington Habitat for Humanity home build for Mona Ashby and her 7-year-old grandson (learn more). The house is completed and we want to help Mona and her grandson, along with other Habitat for Humanity future homeowners, make their new house a home with donated household items.

CHI Saint Joseph Health employees are prohibited from making a monetary donation. Please donate new items and ensure that packaging maintains its integrity. Habitat for Humanity will accept the following items:

  • Dish towels
  • Dish sponges
  • Wash cloths
  • Towels
  • Trash bags
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper towels
  • Cleaners: Windex, 409, Simple Green, Clorox, etc.
  • Broom/dust pan
  • Mop/bucket
  • Bathroom items: Shower curtain, bath mats, plunger, soap dish, toothbrush holder, etc.
  • Kitchen fire extinguisher
  • Kitchen tools: Utensils, plates & bowls, plastic food storage containers, mixing spoons, can openers, measuring cups, cutting boards, etc.
  • Flashlight
  • Batteries
  • Light bulbs
  • First aid kit
  • Tool kit items: a hammer, a screwdriver, nails, etc.
  • Picture frames
  • Clothes hangers
  • Laundry supplies: detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets
